Completion requirements
Pay attention to the components that make up the charter, including the preliminary scope statement, assumptions and constraints, scope boundaries, milestones, and the preliminary budget and schedule. This information is approved by the project sponsor and then used to help further define the project during the planning phase.
Project Charter
Purpose of the Project Charter
The purpose of a project charter is to:
- Provide an understanding of the project, the reason it is being conducted, and its justification
- Establish early on in the project the general scope
- Establish the project manager and his or her authority level. A note of who will review and approve the project charter must be included.
