After watching several ART21 videos, I was most surprised by Kara Walker’s powerful storytelling and visual style. The artist most focused on the process of making their work was Richard Tuttle, who pays close attention to how materials are handled and created. Tara Donovan stood out as the artist most concerned with creativity, transforming everyday objects into imaginative installations. Lastly, El Anatsui was clearly the artist most invested in materials, using recycled metals and bottle caps to craft intricate, large-scale sculptures. Each artist’s unique approach highlights different aspects of art-making, from concept and creativity to materials and process.
