It really depends on the circumstances or situations. One example is Marcel Duchamp's Fountain [1917]. It was literally just a urinal signed "R. Mutt". So was that really an art or just an historical artifact? Another is the banana tree taped on the wall which is more of a joke than any aesthetic visualization or self expression. This is the thing about art. Art is really vast and it's context cannot be just a mere of something. Art is not just history, track, or merely an expression. But certainly, it is directly tied to humans, not just culture but individualities.
