Watch from 8:30 — Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation

The PIE Model simplifies the instructional design process into three broad phases: Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation. It is less granular than Dick & Carey and is useful for projects that need a streamlined, practical approach.

  • Planning: Encompasses analysis and design activities—identifying needs, learners, objectives, and strategies.
  • Implementation: Developing and deploying instructional materials.
  • Evaluation: Assessing effectiveness and making improvements.
