4.3 Saylor's QM Integration Plan

Phase 1: Training and Preparation (Current Phase)

Saylor is currently training course designers, instructors, subject matter experts, and project managers on QM standards. The goal is to build institutional knowledge and capability, so that quality standards are embedded in course design from the start, not added later.

  • Course teams complete QM training (such as this course)
  • Internal QM review teams are trained and certified
  • Quality assurance processes are established
  • Existing courses are evaluated for QM readiness

Phase 2: Course Preparation and Self-Review

Course teams will conduct self-reviews of their courses using the QM rubric, identify gaps, and make revisions to ensure alignment with QM standards.

  • Course teams conduct detailed self-reviews
  • Revisions are made to address gaps
  • Internal QM reviews are conducted
  • Courses are finalized and approved for external review

Phase 3: External Certification

Selected courses are submitted to Quality Matters for formal peer review and certification. Saylor will prioritize high-enrollment courses and flagship courses in key disciplines.

  • Courses are submitted to QM for external review
  • Feedback is received and analyzed
  • Revisions are made as needed
  • Courses are certified and badge is published

Phase 4: Continuous Monitoring and Maintenance

Once courses are certified, Saylor will monitor them for changes, updates, and recertification due dates. Courses will be recertified every 3 years to maintain their QM designation.
