7.2 Limitations, and future research

The research was conducted within a single organisation, and so the results might be specific to this organisation. It is uncertain whether the concepts will apply similarly to other industries. Thus future research in other manufacturing organisations is recommended. The research was conducted within an organisation that is in the early to middle stages of BI maturity. Research in an organisation that is more advanced might provide deeper experiential learning advice. The manufacturing organisation selected comprises mostly scientific and technical employees. Future research in a more creative environment might yield different results. This research methodology could be replicated in future research in different organisations and industries. The detailed role of data mining, data warehousing, and big data and analytics was outside of the scope of this research, and could be incorporated into future research.
