Analysis techniques

The majority of big data research works focus on optimization techniques (28 hits). According to our analysis, econometric, linguistic, and statistical techniques receive less attention in IS research. In total, 23 articles within the data sample do not address any analytical technique. They rather focus on conceptual or descriptive outcomes. Research results, applying econometric techniques focus e.g. on the evaluation of user behavior and the application of the conjoint analysis. Cezar and Raghunathan analyze the welfare of buyers and retailers depending on the availability of smartphone data such as GPS location and direction of movement. Research articles based on linguistic analysis techniques investigate decision support systems for knowledge mobilization and content analysis of social media platforms. Miah et al. additionally apply simulation techniques to predict the tourist behavior after analyzing social media content. Statistical techniques are applied e.g. for providing mobile analysis capabilities through the design of a generic, programmable position tracking platform, based on Bayesian networks.
